I'd apologize for being absent

But that seems pretentious

Nevertheless

Life has brought some surprises over the last couple of months

The biggest surprise 

Is also the smallest

A new little one

Burrowing inside me

A surprise

A challenge

A blessing

I'm coming to terms with the surprise and working through the challenges

The blessing still feels undeserved

Knowing so many loved ones who also deserve

A blessing such as this

For them, I will smile through the nausea and discomfort

And prepare once more to go down to the depths

To bring forth

My blessing
